New real estate: record of construction of new housing in 2007.

“All the chain of housing has had to continue to be mobilized to accompany the unequalled effort of construction for thirty years in France, in order to meet the need for housing of the French and to make up for lost time accumulated during the Nineties, in particular in the most tended zones”, declares Christine BOUTIN, Ministre for Housing and the City, who is pleased with the figures of construction reached in 2007 and greets the engagement of all the actors of housing for the realization of the objective of construction of 500.000 residences fixed by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister.

The strongest year of production since 1970:
With 435.000 new residences started in France, the year 2007 is the strongest year of production since the end of the year 1970, in rise of more than 1% compared to 2006 in Metropolitan France, drawn by housing construction collectives in increase of 3%. The rise is particularly marked in the most tended areas which are the Ile-de-France with 41.000 new residences, in increase compared to the previous year of 2,5%, the Rhone-Alps with 53.000 residences either an increase of 9% and Nord-Pas-de-Calais with 19.000 new residences or an increase of 5,2%.

The dynamics of production of social housing is maintained with very an high level with a financing of more than 100.000 residences, in particular thanks to the increasingly strong implication of the local government agencies within the framework of the delegations of power. The new offer of residences financed in Rental Loans of Social Use (MORE) and in Social Rental Loans (PLS) represents 80.000 residences at the same time for housing construction but also for residences social or hearths for the elderly or handicapped…

Objectives for the new real estate in 2008:
The production targets of residences for 2008 must tend towards the objective of 500.000 new residences including 120.000 social, as fixed by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister. The objectives for social housing construction are thus ambitious for 2008, with in particular an objective of 20.000 PLAI. “The mobilization of all the public and private actors must thus remain always as strong as it was it in 2007”, estimates the Minister for Housing and the City.
